The Brazilian Alliance mission is to build alliances with other local, state, federal, and international community organizations through collaborative teamwork, in order to help provide educational services and resources to the Brazilian immigrants. The organization's main areas of work are Leadership Development, Community Organizing & Advocacy, Support and Educational programs for children and families.
ABE intent to become a model of community organization and development that will form leaders, bridge differences and positively engage people, contributing to the advancement of people and society as a whole.
The Brazilian Alliance has an affiliate in San Francisco, CA and in Boston, Mass opening soon. All of which are nonpartisan, and locally autonomous nonprofits.
OUR GOALS
Through community organizing and leadership development help develop future leaders who will bridge the differences, develop better resources, engage people and bring community together.
Provide leadership development and training to promote interpersonal relationships and job opportunities.
Through partnerships with local education institutions, provide students with referrals to programs such as ESL, technical programs, to help them excel, find better jobs, seek higher education, empower themselves, and become self-sufficient.
Provide the community with referrals, support groups and advocacy in the areas of education, health, employment and training, youth services, housing, domestic violence, elderly, immigration issues, and others.
Advocate for the recognition, pride and respect of the growing number of Brazilians living in Hartford, their customs, culture, traditions, and ethnicity in order to help transpire role models and new leaders to emerge.
Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations in the fight for discriminatory practices in the workforce.
Recruit volunteers to help promote leadership and community development. Arrange internship opportunities to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate schools in the areas of human services, and social work -community organization, policy planning, group work, and others.
Present professional and educational workshops to inform and empower the community.
Provide a newsletter to notify the Brazilian community about the organization’s development as well as issues such as health, education, immigration, and etc.
Promote leadership development by encouraging and supporting outside ideas and projects that will enhance the social, financial, and cultural lives of the community.
