Founder & Executive Director - Carlos Nunes This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it - Telefone (203)-721-1418
Carlos Nunes was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he also grew up.
From a very young age he received a strict religious education which exposed him to various movements for social assistance and advancement such as, food and toy drives, prison and hospital visits, and neighborhood improvement efforts. He was, himself, assisted by religious and social organizations in the pursuit of his educational and professional goals. Influenced by his upbringing he concluded that investing in people’s lives is the ultimate human obligation. In 1994, at the Theological University of America, he pursued and completed his bachelor’s degree in Theology, and continued his studies toward the completion of his Master’s degree, also in Theology.
Since his graduation Carlos has worn many hats, as lecturer, teacher, faith based community organizer, and since 2001, as a Social Worker focused on the area substance abuse prevention and treatment.
Carlos has returned to school and is currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Human Services at Post University. Carlos’ goal is to help people improve their social and economic condition, starting with people of his own Brazilian background by means of education and directing people to possible solutions for their most pressing needs. His social work activities are guided and permeated by close adherence to professional code of ethics, and deep respect toward people.
Carlos’ demonstrated ability to easily interact with various ethnic, cultural, and linguistic groups, coupled with his long experience in educational and social services have given him a leadership style characterized by sensibility, understanding, caring, and effectiveness.
On August 13, 2011, Carlos was appointed Executive Director of Waterbury & Nagatuck areas by the Founder of the Brazilian Alliance in the United States, Abigail Amorim, and local community leaders where will he will be also a Graduate Intern to finalize his masters in Human Services from University Post as his initial project with the organization. Congratulations Carlos, ABE Board is very proud to have you as part of our team.

Founder and Executive Director, native of São Paulo, Brazil. Ms. Palmeira has a passionate commitment to immigrants' rights and social justice. Adriana earned a B.A. degree in Latin American Studies from Smith College as an Ada Comstock Scholar. She has been working since 2008 to promote Brazilian Alliance's mission and development in the San Francisco Bay Area. As the founder of Brazilian Alliance, Ms. Palmeira has been centrally involved in developing the Legal, Education, Access to Health and Domestic Violence Clinics; she also actively responds to general community needs and continues to build alliances with key community officials, leaders, donors, and the people she serves.
In addition to directly working with clinics, Adriana has also created partnerships with private medical, dental and legal firms willing to lower their costs and provide payment plans in order to serve the needs of the population referred by Brazilian Alliance. For example, she has successfully partnered with the Law Office of Kaiser and Capeci, a leading Immigration Law Firm located in San Francisco, to have certain cases referred to them. This partnership will allow for our clients to make affordable arrangements and receive superior legal representation. Adriana is currently obtaining a Masters Degree in Public Administration at the University of San Francisco, and intends to start law school immediately following her upcoming graduation.
Congratulations Adriana for your hard work, continuing studies and desire to unite both the East and West coasts through the Alliances.
